Talking Traditions.

I grew up in a family that thrived on traditions. It gave me stability as a child…something to look forward to…being a part of something bigger than myself. As I got older, I planned my calendar around these special events. These happenings became a part of my soul…my life.

Now that I have children of my own, I am trying to create that same environment that I had as a child…visits with grandparents during holidays, special birthday meals, vacations and summer celebrations. Right now, I am enjoying the holidays through Jude’s eyes. Canton Lights. Decorating Gingerbread trains with friends. Wrapping presents. Baking cookies. Reading the Christmas story. Church events. It has taken on a whole new meaning for me…a new tradition.

This holiday season…reevaluate your schedule…your calendar. Look where you can schedule in “special” time with family and friends. Relax. Enjoy. Start making your own memories. Remember that the season is not about the presents and parties and parades. Slow down to remember the true meaning.

Joy and Peace and Love.
