Default Ok, Now What?

"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." -John F. Kennedy

It's a new year. What will this new year bring in our lives? No one knows for sure, but you can be certain of one thing.....there will be changes. Whether these changes are good or bad, may be up to you.

The changes I wish to address here are your financial habits. Specifically, I wish for you to examine your spending and saving habits.

With the constant bombardment from everywhere telling us to spend, spend, spend, it's no wonder that we tend to spend more than we should. In my opinion, spending more than we had was a major reason our country went into this recession in the first place. Living with the financial stress of overspending is no way to go through life's journey. You DO have control over this. It's an easy equation.....spend less than you make. It is your choice how you wish to live. If you are not in deep debt, then do not voluntarily get there. If you are, then come up with a serious plan to get out.

The other side of this article is about saving those extra dollars you now have as a result of spending less than you make. If you do not take anything from reading this but this one concept, please understand this. YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FINANCIAL WELL-BEING; not your employer, not your investment advisor, not other people in your life, and certainly not the government with its ever-deepening debt, just YOU. Understand your finances and educate yourself about your money. You never know what life will throw at you. Be ready.

Peace, Bill
